System Design
Our Fire Risk Assessments allow us to work together to design and implement a custom fire suppression system to address the specific risks to your operations. These assessments benefit distributors, manufacturers and vehicle owners alike.

Installation
We take pride in our installations. With many years around equipment, we understand the importance of component placement. We secure our systems, do not block access to key service areas & do not obstruct the view of operators.

Maintenance
Systems maintenance is vital in order to continue operating at maximum efficiency. Fire suppression systems also demand regular upkeep. In fact, any investment in a fire suppression system is futile unless a proper maintenance plan is in place and enforced.

Unfortunately, the threat of fire is always lurking behind the scenes. Once the three components to start a fire have been met, the consequences can be disastrous. By the time the smoke is escaping from under the hood, chances are you have a sizable fire aboard. A safe departure by the operator & saving the vehicle may not be achievable.
Fire suppression systems are designed to ensure safe evacuation of personnel from the vehicle and extinguish the fire by suffocating the flame and cooling hot surfaces. Williams Mechanical is certified by AFEX Fire Suppression Systems on three different systems that can be installed on vehicles; Dry Chemical, Liquid Chemical & Dual Agent. Each of these systems can be tailored with automatic detection & actuation or manual actuation depending on your operation.

HOW IT WORKS
Here are some key components & functions of a fire suppression system.

-
Detection - Automatic detection continues to work when the machine is parked, or at the end of the day when the key is off and components are still very hot. It consists of either a linear detection wire or spot sensors to interrupt a monitoring circuit that automatically sets off the system. This is the preferred method as it can catch the fire and warn the operator to safely stop and evacuate the machine.

-
Actuation - Once the fire has tripped the detection circuit, the monitoring panel notifies the operator and prepares for actuation. By the end of a timed countdown, the monitor signals a firing pin to puncture high pressure inert gas, which charges the agent tanks. When agent tanks reach a defined pressure they will release the agent to the distribution network.

-
Distribution - The high pressure agent runs through a carefully calculated distribution system to where the key areas of ignition will occur. Dry chemical offers unparallel knockdown efficiency while the liquid chemical cools hot surfaces and lessens the factor of reignition. The combination is a winning success. Whichever system suits your needs, the distribution network of premium quality hose, stainless steel tubing, precision machined distribution blocks, & heavy duty nozzles are built to last.

Dry Chemical Agent
Dry chemical systems provide fire protection against Class A (debris), Class B (fuel), and Class C (electrical) fires. This system is effective by flooding a volume of space, such as a vehicle engine compartment, with a fire fighting agent to suffocate the flame.
Liquid Chemical Agent
Liquid chemical fire suppression systems provide exceptional cooling abilities to suppress Class A (debris) and Class B (fuel) fires. The liquid agent cools hot surfaces, separating fuel hydrocarbon molecules to prevent fire reignition and forming a layer of foam to suffocate flames.
Dual Agent
Dry chemical systems provide fast fire knockdown and total-flooding of enclosed compartments, while the liquid chemical systems target hot surfaces for fast cooling and protection against fire reignition.
